Chocolate Quetzal Allergen Control Policy
Ensuring the safety and satisfaction of our customers is our top priority. To provide transparency and assist those with food allergies or sensitivities, we have outlined the allergen information for our chocolate products below.
Allergen Information
-
Tree Nuts: Our products are produced in an environment where tree nuts such as almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios, and walnuts are present. While we offer nut-free chocolate options, cross-contamination is possible. Therefore, our products may contain traces of these nuts.
-
Peanuts: Peanuts are present in our production environment. Despite our best efforts to prevent cross-contamination, our products may contain traces of peanuts.
-
Gluten: Some of our products may contain gluten, and cross-contamination is possible.
-
Dairy: Our chocolates contain milk and milk-derived ingredients.
- Berries: We incorporate strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries into some of our chocolate products. While these berries are not classified as priority allergens by Health Canada, individuals with sensitivities should exercise caution.
Precautionary Allergen Labeling
Despite our stringent cleaning protocols, cross-contamination with allergens is possible. Therefore, we include precautionary statements such as "May contain peanuts, tree nuts (pistachios, almonds, walnuts), gluten" on our product labels. These statements are voluntary but must be truthful and not misleading. They are placed immediately after the ingredient list or the "Contains" statement, if present. For more information please check Inspection Canada Website.
Recommendations for Sensitive Individuals
If you have severe allergies or sensitivities to nuts, gluten, or dairy, we recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before consuming our products. For more information on managing food allergies and reading labels, please visit Food Allergy Canada's guidelines.
